Kraftin' Kimmie Primarily Purple Challenge

Saturday, October 30, 2010

Happy Halloween weekend... Does anyone have anyting fun planned?? I was cracking up at the episode of the Middle (I swear that the show is COMPLETELY about our life)--- I can NEVER get my husband to dress up to go to a Halloween party, so we play it pretty low key and take the kids to the town Halloween Party (this year I'm a judge for the 0-2 age group) and then we'll head out trick or treating with the kids to get fifteen tons of candy which will inevitably be tossed out after the obligitory three day grace period.  (Well the Kit-Kat's, Snickers, and Reese's Butter Cups MAY just find their way to my stamping room before I sneak the sticky stuff into the trash can at night!) :)   I'll post some pictures of my little trio (if I can get them to stand next to each other without a "he touched me", "she's too close" argument breaking out.

So on to my Kraftin' Kimmie challenge... it's a primarily purple challenge this week, and I've been using purple a TON lately, so luckily, I'm all brushed up on my purple copic color combinations (say that three times fast!)

I used the adorable "LILLITH" stamp from Moonlight Whispers which includes the little frog as an accent stamp.
She seems like an independent and sassy little gal, so I created my own sentiment and added a much coveted frog brad from Doodlebug... I hoard those brads for years before I finally use them!!

Stop be the Kraftin' Kimmie BLOG to see more purplerific samples!!

Sugarplum Christmas Kit Review - All That Scraps Day FOUR

Friday, October 29, 2010

It's Day Four for All That Scraps and today we are reviewing the Sugarplum Christmas stamps.  The individual images will now be available in the store on November 1st and I used Sugarplum Christmas Candle.  I found these rich colored Cosmo Cricket papers for my color inspiration.

The sentiment is from Amy R's Merry & Bright sentiment set and it's stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa ink.

Be sure to stop be the ATS Blog to see more fun samples with the Christmas Sugarplums!

I'll be back later this morning with a post for the Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge-- so stay tuned!

Claudia & Company Sneak Preview!!

Hey there!! I have a special treat today.... even though the blog hop isn't until the 5th of November, I get to show you two of the SIX new Puddlejumpers releasing for Claudia & Company next month!  They are all seriously adorable!!

First, I have Winter Ella --- and could you get a cuter little buddy for her?!?!  I love penguins and this little guy is just adorable... plus I want Ella's outfit!  I used more of the fabulous papers from Cosmo Cricket's Mitten Weather collection.  I hand cut the mountains and snow hills, then sponged with Vintage Photo distress ink.   This fun sentiment is even included with the set!! Totally adorable!
Secondly, I have Party Time Piper here sporting her polka dot best.  I think she will be adorable for birthday cards, as well as Christmas cards and these fun papers from Milo Christmas Collection was perfect for my color inspiration!  And yes, that is a Bow Easy bow that perfectly matches the bow on her dress!
I'm so excited to see what you think of these and just wait until you see the next ones!! In just a couple of days, I'll have a couple more previews for you!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Little Elf with Present- Stamping Bazaar

Thursday, October 28, 2010

Hello friends!! It's been a crazy night, the child activity chaosis is in full swing with school conferences tonight, the first night of Cat-Pac wrestling for Kaiden, and Gymnastics for Gabby.   I am officially that mom in the Toyota mini-van commercials who needs a break to lock myself in the van for some mommy-time!! :)

I've had this card made for a few days and realized I didn't get it posted, but I wanted to make sure you all saw one of the newest images from Marina Neira at The Stamping Bazaar--- this is LITTLE ELF with PRESENT

I just think he is absolutely adorable and I used a touch of glitter on his santa hat to add a little sparkle to his gift giving.
If you haven't checked it out yet, make sure you stop by the TSB BLOG to participate in the first challenge sketch on the site!!  You can win FREE digi-images and all entries need to be in by Saturday night, so still PLENTY of time to play along!

ATS Sneak Peek Day 2 - Cookie Sugarplum

(Make sure you check out Day One peeks yesterday, as well as the YNS Challenge down below!)

Day TWO of peeks at ATS (All of these will be released on November 1st!) But how stinkin' cute is this new Sugarplum!?!  This is Sugarplum Cookie and a new accessory stool from C.C. Design at All That Scraps.  You can see more samples with Cookie and also another new Sugarplum called Daydream over at the ATS Blog today.
For my card, I used a Cookie Crumbs sentiment from the Cookie Jar-Gon set which couldn't have been more appropriate.  The darker brown and pink papers come from the Crate Paper Snow Day stack and the Dotted background paper is from PTI's 2009 Bitty Dots stack.

I used a couple of dark pink candy dots and like I said yesterday, you're going to see a BUNCH of ribbons now with my new Bow Easy toy, so I made a double ribbon bow and attached it to a ric-rac strip with a little "Best Glue Ever".

Come back tomorrow for lots more fun--- sneak peeks for Claudia & Company and there are more cute, cute things from All That Scraps.

YNS Challenge - Bookmark

Wednesday, October 27, 2010

Hello!  It's a windy, blustery day here in Iowa--- things are flying off of my house and potted plants all over my yard, so I hope you are having better weather wherever you are!! I just hope the wind dies down by Sunday for Trick or Treating, otherwise I'm going to have a Snow White, Heat Blast, and Darth Vader who will demand being tied down with bricks before they give up a chance to get candy!

In addition to sneak peeks for ATS today, there is challenge over at the YNS (Your Next Stamp) blog to create a bookmark.  I decided to create a book mark card (with a detachable bookmark), and as always, you learn something new when you try a new tutorial!  (I used the one on Splitcoast, but I apparently shouldn't perforate as much as I did, so my bookmark was hanging by a thread by the time I ran it through the sewing machine!

For my card, I used the image: MERRY MOUSE CANDLE, which has this hungry little guy roasting his "cheese marshmallow" over a candle flame.  I thought about making the wax on the candle all cheesy since that's what would happen, but that didn't go very well with my color scheme. The gray for the mouse uses warm gray tones and I always start with my dark with gray and then work to the light (you'll find the lighter shades of gray copics work like your blender pen and they pick up the color.)

The first picture shows my bookmark still attached.... I colored them slightly differently with the backgrounds, but the images are colored very similarly.

Here is the front of my card by itself.

And finally, here is the bookmark which pretty much fell off into my hand by the time I was done messing with it.  Rule for the day: Don't perforate BOTH sides of your card if you want the bookmark to stay attached.

Check out the rest of the YNS team at the Challenge Blog and you can see some adorable samples of other bookmark ideas!

ATS Peeks - DAY ONE!

Hello blog friends!!  It's that time of the month again... I retreat to my little stamp room and get crazy busy creating and my husband wonders if I've been sucked into a black hole, never to appear again!!  Well this week he is actually traveling, so that means that I get extra time late at night to get things done and I still have a TON more to do!!

Today marks the FIRST day of sneak peeks for new stamps at All That Scraps--- so without further adeiu... here is Amy Young's newest creation --- Darby and Pudge (minus Pudge)--- Pudge is an adorable little chubby bird, but I decided to leave him off for this card to make room for more snowflakes.    I just love coloring all of Amy's creations... such fun things you can do with a little color!
I took inspiration from this Crate Paper stack for my color combination and I used Amy R's Merry and Bright sentiment set (which was released last month.)

After coloring my image with copics, I went back in and added white colored pencil to the white parts to make them stand out on the cream cardstock.  I shaded the blue with prismacolor colored pencils and then airbrushed the yellow using Y35 once I cut it out with my Nestabilities die.  The yellow border below the ribbon is a Magnolia border die purchased at All That Scraps.

So what do you think of the bow?!?  I have a NEW favorite must have toy--- the "Bow Easy"--- I think I made at least 4 bows today with it and it is SO cool!! I had to watch a video online to figure out how the heck to use it, but once you make one or two, it's SO simple!! So my Tori Tip for the Day--- GO GET A BOW EASY!!

Now you can go check out the rest of the sneak peeks at the ATS Blog and link in for a chance to win Amy's newest cuties for yourself!

Before I go, if you happened to come across here the other day with my Norwex blog info posted, you may be confused when I pulled it down, I'm just waiting on final approval from the company on my blog, so stay tuned for a blog candy coming up related to that.  If you are familiar with Norwex or interested in trying something out, just send me an email and I'll get you added to my newsletter and customer specials distro! Just send me the email that you want added at Wildaboutnorwex@aol.com.   Thanks so much for your support!!

YNS Cute Witch Ellie

Sunday, October 24, 2010

Hey all!! I had such a fabulous weekend.  I had a girls' day with Taylor and Sankari-- which I will post about later this week... we had such a fabulous time and my sides hurt from laughing so much -- either that or it was the fried mac n' cheese, cheesecake, cinnamon rolls and brownies that we had... hmmm... I'm not sure! :)

I have a YNS (Your Next Stamp) card that I haven't posted on my blog that I wanted to share.

I used Cute Witch Ellie and her Kitty for my card and used a combination of colored pencils (for the orange) and green galore ink pad for the sponging around the outside on the images.  I just love her striped tights and sweet little kitty friend!
I have a TON of stamping to do this week, so I better go get busy-- I have TONS of new releases coming up to show you and you won't want to miss them!!

Blast from the Past with Taylored Expressions

Friday, October 22, 2010

Hello TE fans!  It's time for the Blast from the Past Blog Hop this month--- and let me tell you that getting ANYTHING on this post was an unbelieivable challenge in and of itself!! I picked up a ridiculous computer virus which poses as a MSN anti-virus software and it locks up your computer.  I worked on it for about 8 hours (plus a couple hours for a run to Best Buy to pick up some updated Virus protection software!) --- so to say the least, my night did not go as planned.  My PLAN was to work on my BFTP card, so INSTEAD, I'm going to show you one of the very first cards that I made using Taylored Expressions stamps.  I think it was from 2 years ago and it uses the very appropriate for this time of year set, TRICK OR SWEET
If I have time this morning, I will work on another card and add it to this post, but at this point, it's after midnight and I MUST SLEEP! :)

Hopefully everyone else on the hop had a better past 24 hours than me!

As a reminder, there are PRIZES to be won along the way--- a random hopper will receive a TE stamp set of their choice and another participant will be selected to be featured on the next newsletter!!

Cupcake Cherrie from Tickled Pink Stamps

Thursday, October 21, 2010

My dear sweet friend Kellie Winnell, owner of Tickled Pink Stamps, asked me be a PINK SPOTLIGHT guest a while back and she had a VERY specific stamp in mind for me I think.  I am SUPER excited to introduce you CUPCAKE CHERRIE--- designed by none other than CHRISTINE (C.C. Designs).  Kellie knows how much I ADORE all of Christine's images, so to join the TPS gals for this birthday celebration is a SUPER treat!

Cherrie's tights were my absolute favorite part --- You have to love some argyle tights!! Because she is so cute, I didn't have to a whole lot of accents on here, so a simple bow, a small cupcake brad (you KNOW I have a HUGE stash of those!) and I had the fun of using some Grand Nestabilities dies for my card base tonight--- I'm borrowing them for a few days again... and how cute do the squares work for a shaped card!

I can't wait to see all of the other Cupcake Cherrie cards from the design team-- so go check out the TPS BLOG to see a TON of GORGEOUS SAMPLES!!  TPS BLOG <----

Snow White - Princess Chloe

Hee-Hee---- After my altered Claudia & Company Cowboy McCoy (Woody), I couldn't leave Princess Chloe out of the fun, so here she is dressed in her Halloween Costume as Snow White (which my daughter will be this Halloween).  I'll admit, I had a little fun with the two new Puddlejumpers this month-- SO adorable!!  And can you believe I made a card with NO patterned paper!  That is a rare event... but I couldn't find anything Snow Whiteish enough.  (Yes, that's a word for my purposes today!)
Princess Chloe is available at Die Cuts R Us HERE----> DCRU Princess Chloe

I used stickles on the skirt and in her crown and she is colored with copics.  I used a soft yellow prismacolor pencil with OMS to shade around her.

Thanks for visiting today!

Norwex Poll

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

Hey blog friends!! I typically don't put anything on my blog that isn't stamping related, but I'm thinking about starting something new and wanted to get some opinions from my online friends!  So I interrupt my regularly scheduled programming for one minute--- please indulge me!! :)

Have you heard of NORWEX cleaning products??  If not, here is a link <---- they are a company that offers cleaning products without chemicals.  While I do TRY to do a good job of recycling and things like that, I am not a "green nut" or anything crazy.  What I DO know is that as a mom, I'm CONSTANTLY cleaning things and if I can do it without harsh stinky stuff and it does a better job, then I'd rather use that!  Windows are the bane of my existence and I recently purchased the window kit products from this company and was in AWE... I usually don't get excited about things like that, but I've been telling everyone about the two things that I bought and now I want to try out the entire catalog!  For the first time, I'm not swearing while I clean the windows in my house and they finally don't have streaks... I'm ridiculously picky about them, so I would clean them 4 or 5 times a day and they still would have a gillion streaks when the light would hit it!    Anyway-- they offer hundreds of products and I haven't jumped on board yet, but I am considering creating an online store and link from my blog to offer products, explain what they do, etc.

Before I put in the investment, I wanted to take a poll to see if that is something people are even interested in.  I would be able to sell to US and Canadian residents--- you would pay via paypal on my online store or I would accept orders by email and send you an invoice.  I really want honest feedback on your thoughts, so as my blog readers and friends, if you could answer this poll question---  I would REALLY appreciate it!!  (As of right now, I have no affiliation with them whatsoever, I'm just considering it as a way to earn a little stamping money!) HA! :)

I'm thinking I would create a separate blog and that way I could do product reviews, show pictures of items in use, etc.  My biggest concern is whether these are types of things that people need to see in person to buy or would pictures and reviews be enough to try things out.  I'm a "try it out girl", so if I hear good buzz about something, I'll give it a try--- that was how I ended up buying my first items, but I'm curious if other people "shop" that way!

Kraftin Kimmie Sneak Peek #3 - Merry

Monday, October 18, 2010

It's sneak peek #3 for Kraftin' Kimmie and today I have "MERRY" cooking her holiday turkey.... I don't know what the heck I was thinking when I colored the turkey, but for some reason, I thought that it was "stuffing" coming out of the top, to discover when I looked at some of the other gals cards that it's LEMONS!! DUH! :)  So for my turkey, the stuffing is spilling out of the top because I LOVE me some stuffing!!
Merry from the unbelievably talented Annie Rodrigue includes two fun accessories stamps --- the sentiment on the card as well as oven mitts.  The paper is last year's Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses.

You can see links to all of the designers with peeks today at the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Blog.

Kraftin' Kimmie Sneak Peek

Sunday, October 17, 2010

------> Make sure you check out the Winter Wonderland Taylored Expressions post from earlier today!!

Oh goodness... so explaining to your husband, how to post on your blog is NOT an easy task--but at least he got the picture on here.  I was cracking up trying to explain where to click!

I had a last minute trip to the Iowa Craft Show in Cedar Falls today and slipped away with my mom, cousin, and aunt for a girl's trip.  My daughter scored --- I brought home the CUTEST handpainted table and chairs for her room (it's decorated with cupcakes, ice cream, and sweets--- seriously, ADORABLE!! - I'll share pictures later this week)... in addition, she ended up with a cute little princess roll-up eraser board--- the boys both have boy ones and she was feeling left out, so I managed to find the absolute girliest girl one they had (last one) and now she's all set to go.  I didn't have my camera inside or I would have taken a picture of her sitting at her little table tonight with her eraser board.... her exact words were that "the "pupcakes" table is CUTE, CUTE, CUTE!"  (Everything is in three's right now, she also told us the Carrie Underwood concert was "Fun, Fun, FUN!")

So anyway-- I apologize for the odd post, but here is my SUPER CUTE new image from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, "FROSTY THE SNOWMOUSE"--- I must have been tired when I posted it because in addition to putting in the wrong watermark (which I fixed!), I also named it Frosty the Snowbunny.... Um... I'm PRETTY sure these look like mice, but it was REALLY late and I was working on batteries by that point!
For my card, I used K&Company Peppermint Twist papers and TCP Twine, along with a cute little airbrushed nested mitten from Spellbinders.  The "Snow" is Polar White Flower Soft (it's sparkly and fun--- I have no clue when I bought it, but I found it in a drawer when I was looking for something to "fluff up" my snow!  I used a little crystal effects on their big red noses and my sentiment is Amy R Stamps Merry & Bright.

I'll have sneak peeks the next two days including a blog hop Tuesday, so stay tuned for my FAVORITE stamp from this release coming up--- I kind of squealed a little when I saw her!!

Thanks for dropping by and thanks to my husband for bearing with me as I explained how to resize pictures, how to spell "Kraftin' Kimmie" and making him type the words Frosty the Snowmouse! lol... He's a trooper!! :)

Let it Snow - Taylored Expressions

Don't take this card literally--- I'm REALLY not wanting it to snow yet!  I'm continuing to make some Christmas/Winter themed cards for Etsy and I thought that this plum/sand combo with Taylored Expressions Winter Wonderland set turned out very elegantly.

The frame and snowflakes are stamped and embossed with clear embossing powder and I used my favorite Take Note die, "Take Note 3", with the Take Note- Holidays stamp set for the frame.  I wanted to be able to see part of the purple polka dot paper behind it, so I cut out the center with a Tim Holtz knife.  I then stamped and embossed a medium snowflake and small snowflake from Winter Wonderland and used the Winter Wonderland Snowflake Taylored Dies to cut them out.  I only wanted to use the center of the small snowflake, so I handcut the portion in purple and popped it up with a foam square.
All of the papers are from the Mitten Weather Cosmo Cricket stack and I used Taylor's Tiny Twinkles (adhered with Crystal Effects and the Embellie Gellie) to accent the Let it snow sentiment (also in the Winter Wonderland set).

I also used Taylor's Eyelet border die under the ribbon.  A full list of supplies is below.

Supplies - All materials Taylored Expressions unless noted.
Stamps:Take Note Holiday, Winter Wonderland
Ink: Sahara Sand & Perfect Plum from Stampin' Up, Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: Buttercream Choice Cardstock, Mitten Weather Cosmo Cricket
Accessories: Winter Wonderland Snowflake dies, Take Note 3 die, Eyelet Border Die, Embellie Gellie, Taylor's Multi-Colored Rhinestones, PTI Ribbon, snowflake Charm (Clear Dollar Stamps), Clear EP (Stampin' Up) , Rhinestones (Purple Bucket of Bling), sewing machine

Saturday, October 16, 2010

Hello Krafty friends!  It's Saturday and time for a new weekly challenge for Kraftin' Kimmie and as an added bonus, I have a sneak peek of soon to be released stamps!!  The challenge this week is to use non-traditional Christmas colors on a card, so I grabbed my Jolly by Golly Cosmo Cricket paper, which is apparently my go-to stack this year so far.

This is Squirrel with Present and he's as excited as can be to get his favorite treat for Christmas.
I used Lacey squares dies from Spellbinders and an aqua/pink/yellow/red color combo.

To play along in the challenge, go to the KRAFTIN' KIMMIE CHALLENGE BLOG and you can also see sneak peeks of several of the new stamps being released on Tuesday!

Claudia & Company - Cowboy McCoy-Woody

Thursday, October 14, 2010

Howdy everyone!! Cowboy McCoy was featured at Claudia & Company this week and after the blog hop, I was inspired by the pictures that I posted with my kids and decided to turn Cowboy McCoy into Cowboy Woody from Toy Story!  How stinkin' cute is that!?!?
I used very little pattern in my papers so that my image could stay as the central focus.  I added some cowboy natural twine with a star charm for a fun touch.

Cowboy McCoy Puddlejumper is available at Die Cuts R Us and other retailers selling Claudia and Company stamps.

Thanks for stopping by!!

YNS27 - Nicely Negative

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

So as you will see, today's card isn't my typical type of stamping, but the challenge today for "YOUR NEXT STAMP" is to make a Nicely Negative card.... white ink on dark cardstock.  Something a little different and it definitely makes for a quick card!!  Here's the link to the actual challenge blog ----> YNS CHALLENGE BLOG.

I couldn't resist at least a tiny bit of color... so after I embossed it with vanilla embossing powder, I added some orange colored pencils for a little accent.

I used PTI Hocus Pocus papers and a tied a PTI ribbon with a button and farmers market twine.

Thanks for visiting and make sure you check out the YNS blog for more information on today's challenge!!

ATS Sugar Review - Sweet Sunday Sketch and Baby Shower Invitation

Monday, October 11, 2010

Hello blog friends!  I have a card today for the All That Scraps review with a sweet new Sugar named "September" that I hadn't used yet.  I used Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch 88 for my inspiration.

I thought that "September" would make a great holiday card (I love that she could be colored to fit any occassion!) , so I stamped, colored, and cut her out in colors to match my patterened paper... and then I used the nested mitten dies (which are on sale at ATS for $16.99) for her base.  I made a faux-snowflake background using my blender pen on my airbrushed mitten.
The sentiment is from Amy R Stamps - MERRY AND BRIGHT set -- just released this month as well.  The papers are from Cosmo Cricket's Jolly by Golly.  Isn't she just sweet on there!?!?  (I also airbrushed some Stampin' Up felt snowflakes from a few years ago that have been sitting in a drawer-- How would I SURVIVE without my airbrush!?!) :)

I have one other quick little project to show you with some ATS stamps today... I was asked by my sister-in-law to make some quick shower invitations for her bosses baby shower this week--- she is having a boy and the room is going to be decorated in sea turtles, so I used the set Gingersnap Oh Baby! (available as a digi at ATS) and "Silly Sealife" - Sea Turtle stamp from Stampin' Up!
These are 5" x 7" and I used the new Spellbinders Labels 16 dies to cut out the information on the shower.  I thought they turned out SUPER cute!!!

Thanks for stopping by and thank you for all the sweet comments this past week!! As always, if you have any questions, just send me an email (which you can find below my name - just above my profile picture!)

Kraftin Kimmie SPOOKY Challenge - Post 2 today

Saturday, October 9, 2010

Happy Saturday Kraftin' Kimmie Fans!!  It will be DIY home projects at my house this weeked, we've been procrastinating a bunch of little things from touch up painting, cleaning out the garage, making a trip to goodwill, and several other things... so it's going to be busy, busy all day.  We are also finishing a currently unfinished bathroom in our basement, so I need to go pick out a vanity and cabinet to match the floor tiles that I have in mind.   Hopefully I get several things checked off of my list.

The challenge today for Kraftin' Kimmie is to make a "Spooky" card... I ADORE this Perfect Poison image from Annie, it's so twisted and fun... so I used that for my "Spooky" card.

I used lime and apple green prismacolor pencils with OMS to shade around her and then while it was still in the Label 16 die, I used Grape Jelly Memento ink to spong around the outer border.  I had fun with all of the skkull and crossbone accents-- I even used a skull/swirl embossing folder on the strip of black (it was hard to photograph, but they look great IRL!)
To play along in the challenge-- Go to the challenge blog HERE <-----

Thanks for stopping by!!
