Susie's First Snow - Day ONE Christmas Blog Hop - TSB

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

Hello and welcome to the first of our five day CHRISTMAS BLOG HOP with THE STAMPING BAZAAR featuring images from Marina Neira!!  We'll be featuring five new images over the next five days, which will be just in time for the holidays!  Our peeks start today with  Susie's First Snow and you'll want to come back to see Josie with Pinecone, Marvin with Candy Cane, Bikkie's Snowman and Allie & Percy on Sled!  I am SUPER excited to show them all to you... Marina just amazes me more with every new image she draws, definitely over the top on the CUTE factor!!
I ADORE Susie, she's one of my favorite characters from Marina and I loved using all of the snowflakes for this card to tie in with the image.  While I do NOT like snow, I DO love coloring snow images and I used prismacolor pencils with OMS for the blue shading and then I sponged the edges with Desert Sand Memento Ink to age it to match the My Mind's Eye paper that I used.

Now go and hop RIGHT on over to THE STAMPING BAZAAR BLOG for the last stop on the hop!

Here is the full hop list in case you stopped by here first!!

...and then it's back to The Stamping Bazaar Blog.

I'm here...

Monday, November 29, 2010

Hey there!! Just a quick update... first, blogspot seems to have a weird thing going on and my blog is periodically not coming up.  I AM here... but we did have some family stuff come up this past weekend.  I will be posting for sure on the 1st as sneak previews start to kick in high gear, but the next couple of days will be tied up.  My husband's grandmother passed away and we have a bunch of family coming to stay with us through the visitation and funeral.  In addition, I have the Holiday Tour of Homes at my house on Sunday, so I've been frantically doing last minute cleaning, decorating, painting, organizing, etc...  I may have a panic attack before the actual event.  Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know where I was and that I HAVE been very busy stamping... I have about 7 projects in a holding pattern that I can't WAIT to show you!!

I didn't have time to finish the TSB Challenge card for today, but PLEASE check out the TSB BLOG to see this weeks challenge and play along.  If I get a free moment, I will post a card with the sketch.

See ya'll soon!

TSB Challenge #5

Monday, November 22, 2010

Hello!! I'm back in the stampin' mode again, and today I wanted to make sure I pointed you to this weeks The Stamping Bazaar Sketch Challenge - Challenge #5 at the TSB BLOG.   I used one of the brand new 1st round of Christmas releases from Marina--- this one is Christmas Greyhound.    Just wait until you see the ROUND two releases!! They are all so CUTE!!

You can find the full first round of digi's at the blog: HERE.   And as a reminder, you can save $7 by purchasing the entire digi release vs. buying them separately.
I used stickles on his hat and I had some more of the My Mind's Eye stash for the patterned papers.  I used some candy dots for the corner accents that were on the sketch and the background was colored with prismacolored pencils and OMS (Odorless Mineral Spirits with a blending stump).

Thanks for visiting and I'm finally feeling better from my sinus stuff, so I'm hoping to get back to a normal stamping schedule!

TESC134 Home Sweet Snowman

Friday, November 19, 2010

Hello again!! I cracked open some loved, but not seen in the daylight stamps tonight to make a card as I watched the movie "Remember Me".   Geesh... talk about NOT being an upbeat movie, however it did have Robert Pattinson in it, so I had to make my way through.  I'm hoping for a productive weekend of both stamping and house improvement tasks... we'll see what actually gets done! :)

Well for my card, I  used the Friday sketch from Taylor (TESC134) to kick start my inspiration and I used the Crate Paper Snow Day paper collection.   The stamp is from one of my favorite cuppie holiday sets - "Home Sweet Home".
I used my bow easy to tie the bow and the sentiment came from another holiday cuppie set, "Season's Sweetings".

I had a couple of questions yesterday on what I use for white dots on my cards (the card I made yesterday as an example.)  Most of the time, I use a basic white Opaque Pen... you can get them several places, but here is a link to the one at Taylored Expressions.

Thanks for stopping by and I'll be back soon... I have several other images colored or partially colored that I get to share soon!

Penelope & Juniper - All That Scraps

Thursday, November 18, 2010

Hello everyone!!  I had a longer than expected absence... we had a fun time driving through the tundra in Minnesota this past weekend (10 inches of snow) and ended up spending two nights in a hotel vs. driving anywhere further away.  We had a fun girls trip with lots of Ikea and Mall of America shopping and yummy eating.  When we came back on Sunday, I started feeling the sinus infection coming on and yep, full blown by now.... so I haven't been up much past 10pm until tonight.  I finally made my way into my stamping room to do a little stamping and so I finished two cards (one I can't show yet, but it's SUPER cute!) :)

Here's a card for the review I missed at All That Scraps with Sweet November Sprites--- I used Penelope & Juniper (minus Juniper).
I went a little polka-dotty crazy with my gel pen and added a sentiment from Amy R's Merry & Bright sentiment set.   The papers are all from the DCWV Citrus Stack (Didn't realize you could use those for a Christmas card!)

There is a ton of fun stuff coming up and I'll be back to my normal schedule if my energy holds up... lots to do this time of year!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

NOVEMBER Claudia & Company Challenge - Brown, Cream, and u pick!!

Friday, November 12, 2010

First, I just want to apologize, I have had a ton of questions in blog comments recently and I just haven't had a moment to reply to them--- I will be adding a comment box on my blog so it will make it easier for me to reply... and it also helps if you leave your email for me if you have a question, that way I can reply without having to track it down on other blogs or on profiles.

Today, I have the 6th Monthly CLAUDIA & COMPANY CHALLENGE to show you--- this month, our challenge is to use Brown, Cream, and a color of your choice on your card.   Easy enough, right!?!   You can be featured next month by participating and all receive a digi of your choice, so we'd love to see your Claudia & Company cards and what you can do with the challenge.

For my card, I used the color aqua with my brown and cream.  I used Winter Hannah (cause I love her so much!) and since we can't see if she HAS mittens on her hands (they look cold stuck in her pockets there), so I used a giant mitten die to place her in!  I used the E40 range of colors for my creams and browns (I love that shade!) and those are The Cat's Pajamas dies for the flower/button combo's.

Make sure you stop by the CLAUDIA & COMPANY BLOG to see more samples with this challenge and the in linkz to add your own creation!!!

Taylored Expressions - My inner-Martha

Monday, November 8, 2010

Hello!! I had a busy Monday and not only already have my lights on my house for Christmas, but 2 of my 3 Christmas trees put up (1 decorated, 1 not)--- I'm speeding up my Christmas timeline big time this year due to being on a Holiday Walk of Homes for the school--- I'm having a minor freak out at the thought of people walking through my house after daycare kids have put messy handprints, shoe marks, etc... all throughout the house.... so I'm probably going to drive my husband insane doing touch-up painting, rearranging, decorating, etc....  I'm desperately trying to channel my inner Martha Stewart to make my house look extra cute and crafty for the holidays!

So speaking of Martha Stewart--- I decided to make a card with the fun set from Taylored Expressions this month -  "What's Cookin?" and matching dies.  I used the Apron and Kitchen Accessories dies to make this a quick card.

As opposed to calling on my inner-Martha for this card, I channeled my inner-Sankari and used liquid pearls around my die cut for a fun little touch.  I need some work on it!!
I colored and cut out the measuring spoons and after making the banner for the sentiment, I sponged the edges with Canteloupe and Tangelo Memento Ink.  I used an adorable Doodlebug Bon Appetit Boutique brad (Spatula) on the sentiment.

I used one of my absolute favorite images from Marina which is Louisa the Lioness... from her cute outfit, to that adorable hat... I just love it all!

I went with a warm earth tone color scheme using the WANTED Cosmo Cricket Paper.  I used Prismacolor pencils with gamsol to shade around Louisa.

Thanks for stopping by and I can't wait to see your own TSB creations with the sketch this week!! Remember that you can easily purchase and download a digi image directly from the store to have instant access to an image!

Lil' Christmas Evie Preview

Sunday, November 7, 2010

I ADORE the Lil' Lolita line at Tickled Pink Stamps and I was really excited to color the new images this month!  This is Christmas Evie and she is as sassy as can be with her cute lil' holiday outfit.
I used the Snow Day papers from Crate Paper again (YES, I do love them!) and I colored her dress to match the lights in the background paper.  I actually spent all day today dealing with lights--- we took advantage of some really nice November weather and managed to outline our whole house today with Christmas lights!

I added a cute little red Bow-Easy bow to match all of the bows that Evie is wearing!

Be sure to stop by the Tickled Pink Stamps Blog to see all of the fabulous Evie cards today!

Saturday, November 6, 2010

Hello!! Welcome to the Tickled Pink Blog Hop for the adorable new Christmas Cherrie Stamps--- You should have hopped here from BRONWEN's blog and NEXT on the hop will be the multi-talented AMY!!

You may have seen the Ornament Cherrie card from the other day that I made and this is Candy Cane Cherrie-- these two and one more cutie (Cherrie with Lights) are all available at Tickled Pink Stamps!   We've got a fun blog hop for you today and you'll want to make sure you comment along the way for a chance to win the FULL RELEASE, plus there are hidden blog candies along the way!!
I made Cherrie SUPERSIZED for my card (the fun you can have with digital!!) and I went all out with the candy cane theme... and of COURSE, what's a card for Tickled Pink Stamps, without a LOT of pink!! I loved the pink/red tights and then I found a fun candy cane charm hanging out in my drawer!  It almost PAINS me to use those fun charms that I only have a couple of, but it was too perfect for this card not to use!

Have fun on the hop!!

Cherrie with Ornament Preview - TPS Tickled Pink Stamps

Thursday, November 4, 2010

(2nd post today-- Check out my Taylored Expressions Release Day post below!!!)

Today is the preview of Cherrie with Ornament at Tickled Pink Stamps, a continuation of the new line illustrated by none other than Christine Wooden from All That Scraps, C.C. Designs.  I just think Cherrie is the absolute cutest and this long nightgown with the big ornament made such a cutie pie image!

I found some K& Company paper that had ornaments all over it, so I used that for my color inspiration and then I used a sentiment from Amy R Stamps "Merry and Bright" set.

Go check out the TPS BLOG to see more adorable samples with this set!!

Taylored Expressions RELEASE DAY!!

Hey, Hey-- It's Release Day!!  We had a blast cookin' up some fun gift ideas with the new releases at Taylored Expressions and all of the fun stuff is available today!!

For my review project,  I have a card that uses three of the new sets for one quick and easy card. I used the oven image in the "From the Heart" set and sentiment from "From the Heart Funnies".  I started by cutting my cardstock to mimic the oven and I then used the GIFT CARD FRAME DIE to cut a window out of my card oven and I lined it with vellum.

I used a 1/2 inch punch to make knobs, which were sponged with Kiwi Kiss ink to add some dimension.  I stamped the oven and sentiment and then punched it with a 1 3/4" punch and layered it on top of the From The Heart Frame.  I punched a couple of oven mitts from the Kitchen Accessories Dies using patterned paper and popped those up with pop dots.

The inside uses a sentiment from the "What's Cookin'?" set and you can see that the oven opens from the top down like a real oven would.

To see the rest of the release day projects, go jump around to the rest of the Baker's Dozen and don't forget to check out our new fabulous guest designer for the next two months, MONA PENDLETON!!

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peek Day Three-- ENJOY!

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

(This is post #2, scroll down to see the Claudia & Company sneak peeks as well!)

We're cookin' up some more fun today for Taylored Expressions with another SUPER versatile set that you can use for quick and easy gift ideas. It's called ENJOY and there is a coordinating ENJOY die for it as well.  This set was created to use with those cute little altoid size favor tins, but I found another way to use the frame as well.

I created a gift card holder using a template that I created a long time ago to easily give out gift cards.  You can find the tutorial HERE.  It's such a fast and easy way to personalize a gift and the easy frame adds such a fun whimsical touch.
The frame was stamped in Lipstick Red Colorbox Chalk Ink and embossed with Clear EP.  The Enjoy is stamped in Aquamarine Chalk Ink and embossed with Clear EP.  I used the cute little cake image to put in a Cheesecake Factory gift card... YUMMM!!! Who wouldn't want that gift!!  There are 18 images in this set including a frame, 11 gift icons, and 6 sentiments... and it coordinates great with the From The Heart set that we showed yesterday!! You'll have all of the holidays covered with these new sets!

To see more projects that you will ENJOY, here are links to the Baker's Dozen, as well as Jami.  Go check out all of the creative ideas!!
