Are pigs flying?!? Sweet Friends... I made an SCS sketch card!

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

Omgoodness... I actually made an SCS card tonight... and even on the same night of the challenge.  It's gotta be a miracle!  :)

This is using the adorable (and yummy) set from Taylored Expressions called SWEET FRIENDS.  I loved all of the cute images of cake and sweets.  I made my slices for the sketch as a chocolate covered strawberry cake and chocolate covered french vanilla--- two of my favorites! (Okay-- who am I kidding... if it's cake, I like it... which is the exact reason that it's only made for birthday parties around here or I'd weigh 1000 lbs.
The papers are from Cosmo Cricket UpCycle... such fun colors and I glazed the chocolate with some crystal effects for that fun chocolate ganache look!

Off to go do some more stamping... I'm on a roll! :)

New releases have also started at ATS, so make sure you stop by the ATS BLOG to leave a comment and check out the adorable new images!!

TCP Tuesday155 - Just under the wire...

Monday, April 25, 2011

Hey there! I hope you all had a fun, springy Easter.  The weather in Iowa couldn't have been nicer and we actually were able to spend most of the day outside, fly the new kites from the Easter Bunny, and blow through 8 (yes 8) bottles of new bubbles!

In addition to the Easter Hoopla-- I had FOUR photo sessions last week and have been an editing fool getting all of my final touches made on my photo website-- go check it out if you want to see what I've been up to... it's www.wildphotographybytori.com.

I absolutely didn't want to miss out on the fun long-card sketch that Leigh came up with for the TCP Tuesday 155 challenge last week, so JUST under the wire, here is the sketch and my take on it using the adorable and sweet Wet Puddle set for my card.
Of course the papers are all from the Quite Contrary My Mind's Eye collection from last year (still one of my favorite sets of paper EVER!) Luckily, I'm such a hoarder that I have several sheets still in my stash!
The clouds were cut out of felt and I added some CHERRY DIVINE TWINE for the ribbon accent.

I always just LOVE Leigh's sketches and I loved the card she made even more! The stamp die with the adorable bear stamp was just perfect!

Our new TCP Challenge will be posted tomorrow on the Dancing in Pajamas blog... so stay tuned and play along for a chance to be this months SWANKY STAMPER! It only takes one fabulous WOW card to impress Alma and win the title!

Oh and before I go-- CONGRATS to the amazing new duo added the The Cat Pack--- Lori Teclar and Jenny Peterson--- Both are as Swanky as they come and are such a fabulous addition to the team with their talent! You can find their links in my design team blog list -- go give em' some love! :)

Thanks for stopping by and things are finally getting under control, materials ordered, etc... for my new studio, so hopefully I can get back into the stamping groove.  I had to shovel out a spot on my desk to find room to stamp tonight... so step 1 tonight is a thorough desk cleaning!

Taylored Expressions Special Release

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

Today is a FUN day at Taylored Expressions!! We're bursting at the seams with so much sweet new rubber that we couldn't fit it all in the regular monthly release! Today, we are excited to bring you a one-time mid-month release of 3 new stamp sets - Labels of Love, You're My Type - Upper and You're My Type - Lower. As if that weren't exciting enough, these new sets are designed to coordinate with Spellbinders dies! Everything we are showing you is available TODAY!!!

We also want to take this opportunity to express a huge thank you to Spellbinders who generously provided each of us team members with an AWESOME Grand Calibur die cutting machines. I LOVE my Grand Calibur - and as anyone knows who visits my blog, I LOVE Spellbinders dies!! I used them on every single card and can't imagine card making without them!
I am so appreciative of Spellbinders for providing us with these awesome machines.  It's made die cutting a BUNCH of cuts all at once, SO easy... and I also love to use it with the Grand Nestabilities dies to make shaped cards and other projects that I can't fit in my other machine.

So let's see how I used some of the awesome Spellbinder pennants in my first project, along with several other dies, which I cut in groups with my Grand Calibur to speed up my prep-time!

The first project I made incorporates SEVERAL of the new items we are releasing today.  First and foremost are the awesome Nested Pennants.  These are such a HUGE trend--- I'm going to be using them a TON for my photography studio, and I just love how you can personalize them to whatever you need.  I used both the Lacey Pennants and Nested Pennants for this banner and layered them together, sewing them for some extra durability.   You can see in this picture, how I loaded up several cuts onto the base plate of my Grand Calibur, to make FAR fewer cuts than doing them each individually!

With the Nested Pennants- you get 8 dies (including the small tab stripe accents you see under the medallions.)  The Lacey dies include 7 dies, 4 of them have the scalloped border (like you see in the outermost layer on my banner.)

Here is a close up of one of my banners to see how I layered everything!

Taylor is offering an INCREDIBLE special Offer to Celebrate the first ever TE Mid-Month Release and BOTH the NEW Nested Pennants and the NEW Lacey Pennants are 30% off at the TE Store while supplies last! Regular price $19.99, sale price only $13.99!! Grab em' before they are gone!!

In addition to the pennants, I also used the new YOU'RE MY TYPE UPPER alphabet to stamp out WILD, which I then punched out with a 1/2 inch circle punch and layered on a 3/4" circle punch to pop off of the medallions.  I LOVE these alphabets and can see tons of uses for them on cards and other projects.  The YOU'RE MY TYPE LOWER ALPHABET is also available, which also includes numbers 0-9, so you have the full options with spelling out whatever you would want!

The medallions are layered on one of the new RIBBON TAGS TRIO die cuts, which I then added some of the small flag pennants from the Nested pennants dies to add a little extra pop of color with that striped cream paper!  ALL PATTERNED PAPERS ARE THE COSMO CRICKET SOCIAL CLUB.

Next up is the AWESOME Labels of LOVE set.  This set was designed to coordinate with the RIBBON TAGS TRIO die set from Spellbinders and fits all of the ribbon slide labels.  I used the polka dot label for my bottles, but there are 31 images in the Labels of Love set, including 7 frames, 6 flourishes, and 18 sentiments, so it truly covers nearly ever occasion you can think of!  For the ribbon slides,  each has slits on the side, which you can use to slide ribbon through and then tie onto your card.  I used the same approach with the POTION BOTTLES from the store, and again, used the YOU'RE MY TYPE UPPER set to make a personalized candy jar for each of my kids, again cutting out the letters with the 1/2" circle punch and layering on a 3/4" circle punch.

To make it convenient for you, Taylor has these dies and Labels of Love stamp set up in a LOVE BUNDLE, so you can get both with one click!

Now, let's go see what the Baker's Dozen has cooked up for today!  I can't wait to see all of this Spellbinders fabulousness to go with the new sets!

Treasure Life - Taylored Expressions

So did I mention that I LOVE the Apothecary jars this release at Taylored Expressions... LOVE them!  I have several in my house and my favorite is the one in the entryway that I change out for holiday's.  Fun, CUTE stuff!!  Tonight, I made a card using the set TREASURE LIFE from TE.  I used the glass dome and apple stamp, along with the Spellbinders Ribbon Tag Trio Three die and Labels Eighteen--- aren't these new shapes awesome!!

The papers are from the Emma's Shoppe Card Kit available this month -the best part of this card kit is that it suits everyone.  Several of the Baker's Dozen used the gorgeous floral sides of the paper and I tend to flip them and go for the bright and bold shapes and patterns.

Everything was colored with copics and then I used crystal effects over the entire dome to give it that glassy look.

So before I go, for those that have followed my blog for a while, you may have noticed a HUGE decrease in my posts recently.  I have been hard at work preparing for my new photography business and WOW has it been a lot of work... FUN work mind you, but very time consuming!   I appreciate those of you who are still stopping by.  I just had to share a couple of pictures of my kiddos -- they've been my sweet little volunteer models as I practiced with my new lighting and equipment.

And the last one, my current favorite of my SWEET, SWEET daughter showing that she has her own opinion and that despite my best efforts, her head-strong personality will prevail  This one just HAS to be on a canvas!!

I already have a card ready to post tomorrow too, so nobody faint--- 2 days in a row and it's not even a release week!! :)

TCP Tuesday - BABY TIME BLOG HOP

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

We have a new kitten in the pack from one of our fabulous Mama Cat's, Tracy!! She has a beautiful bouncing Baby Boy named Braden!

To celebrate, the cat pack decided to throw a bouncing baby blog hop today in lieu of regularly scheduled TCP Tuesday--- so dig out those ideas on baby cards and whip up a cute little baby creation to play along in our challenge!!

For my card, I used stamp sets: A WHALE OF A TIME and SIMPLY SAID (sentiment set).   I also used the EASY Rosette Cut-Up Die and the fun, WAVES Cut-Up die.  The teal accent piece is the scrap from cutting the two waves-- if you offset them in opposite directions, you get a TOTALLY cool shape that you can use for a border!  LOVE IT!

NEXT ON THE HOP is the amazing, AMY ROHL... I can't wait to see what she INKED up!!

Here's the full hop order in case you missed anyone!!

Thanks for dropping by and make sure you stop by the DANCING IN PAJAMAS BLOG to play along.

TCP153 - Teal, Orange, Yellow color challenge

Sunday, April 10, 2011

Well I know it's not Tuesday, but I didn't want to miss out on the fabulous fun color combo from Sony, so better late than never... here is my TCP Tuesday card using the fun stamp set, THE TWEETEST THINGS and coordinating die HOME TWEET HOME.
How fabulously fun is the wood grain birdhouse stamp!! There are three different birdhouse stamps, a swirly solid image bird, the branch, FIVE sentiments, and tons of music notes in this adorable set!  I love the dies as well and you can use all of the dies with the images in the set.  The other die I used in this set is the BIG PINKING BORDER die for the mustard accents and BROWN SUGAR DIVINE TWINE (swoon!!!).

There is still plenty of time to play before Tuesday, so we'd love to see your take on the color challenge at the DANCING IN PAJAMAS blog... Go play along and have a chance to win prizes and a spot as our Swanky Stamper!!

Taylored Expressions RELEASE DAY!!

Thursday, April 7, 2011

Hello!! It's our official release day for Taylored Expressions--- and it was a fun line-up of stamps this month--- everything from graduation to Mother's day and lots in between!

The card I made today uses a template I made on my blog a couple of years ago-- just search for Gift Card Template and it will come up as the first post!  This is the perfect template for graduation gifts!  I've become a little lazy in my gift giving, especially for graduates --- really, do they want anything other than money anyway though!?!?  So I figure if I at least make a quick gift card holder, it's a LITTLE bit personal!

I used the CONGRATS GRAD sentiment from the BANNER DAY 3 set and die cut it with the coordinating BANNER DAY 3 die.  This set has such a great variety of sentiments and again, I just ADORE the shape of this banner!!   The rest of the card uses the DREAM BIG set -- which is such an easy graduation set to stamp with-- not at all hokey like I've seen with some graduation sets.

I really wanted to make this a simple card so that you could quickly replicate a BUNCH of them.  I stamped the line-up of hats on the gingham layer and then got a little more creative with the belly band--- I used the STARS IMPRESSION PLATE on the band (however you can't see it-- oops!) --- I used two different sizes of Spellbinders circles to cut out the Congratulations on your Graduation badge--- then stamped and handcut the graduation cap.  The banner and cap are popped up with pop dots and I used a small star on the scallop circle layer  for a little something extra.

Here's a picture without the belly band on so you can see how it opens up-- the card slips right in the pocket on the right!

Make sure you stop by the rest of the Baker's Dozen and our guests!

Day Two Sneak Peeks- Taylored Expressions

Wednesday, April 6, 2011

Hi!  We have another awesome new banner to add to our line up today, as well as a coordinating Banner Day 3 die!  In addition today, the Baker's dozen will have an adorable Mom A La Carte image and brand new card kits (which I used on my card here!)

This fun, bright colored card set is using the Banner Day 3 set paired with the Friendship Blooms stamp set.  I made a nice and handy little set of notecards, and I think these are my favorite shapes out of the new banner day dies!! The set is the final in the series concepted by (Chupa) Iwona Palamountain and includes 11 images - 3 banners and 8 sentiments.  As a reminder, these are all deeply etched rubber on EZ Mount, already trimmed and read to go!

The card kit I used is AWESOME-- this one is called Emma's Shoppe Card Kit and it includes a huge list of supplies:
10 Choice Buttercream Cardstock A-2 card bases
10  A-2 envelopes
15 sheets of patterned paper sized for cardmaking at 4" x 6" (3 sheets each of 5 double-sided patterns from the Crate Paper Emma's Shoppe collection)
20 sheets of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cardstock (4 sheets each of 5 colors)
1 package of Kaisercraft Pearls
8 panels of Choice Buttercream Cardstock size 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" (for images and layering)
5 yards of ribbon (2.5 yards each of 2 different styles)
1 Perfect Package Card Box

Make sure you stop by the rest of the gals today-- you'll definitely want to see the Mom A La Carte stamp, as well as the other new card kit, HELLO LUCIOUS!!

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peeks Day 1

Tuesday, April 5, 2011

Hello!! Welcome to the first day of sneak peeks for Taylored Expressions April Release!  We're introducing two full size sets today - Treasure Life (Apothecary Set) and Dream Big (Graduation set), along with a coordinationg Stars Impression Plate, Apothecary Jars dies, and Apothecary Shelf - A-La-Carte.  Everything will be available on THursday morning at 8am PST and we will also be revealing the full sets on Facebook  on Wednesday night... you can find the TE Facebook page- HERE.

For my first card, I used the Treasure Life set--- Apothecary jars are all the rage in home decor right now and we saw them pop up in CHA pictures and all over the internet-- I even have a few around my house!  This stylish set, designed by Nancy McKinney for the Whimsical WIshes line has a huge assortment of accessories you can use in the jars and includes 23 images covering a wide range of occasions.   I used Jillibean papers available in the TE store as well and there is a touch of crystal effects on the lemons to add a little shine on the card!

Next is a set that we really needed in the TE line-up--- graduation parties will be happening before you know it, so DREAM BIG is the perfect set to fill that need.  There are even numbers and a "CLASS OF" stamp to really personalize the card and make it stand out.  I made a really simple and easy to replicate card in our school colors--- I popped the graduation cap out with a pop dot and added crystal effects for shine.  On the yellow card stock, I stamped 2 sizes of stars and then ran it through the STARS IMPRESSION PLATE with my Big Shot.

There are 26 images in all for this set and it even includes wording for graduation invites... so you really get the whole event covered in one set!

Now you can stop by the rest of the TE gang today, including Nancy and Jami-- so here is the list--- let's go check out what everyone has been up to!

Tulip Birgitta - NEW ATS Stamps!!

Friday, April 1, 2011

Hello--- Happy April Fool's Day and TGIF!! So far, my kids haven't been messing with me too much, however Parker thinks he's quite the trickster (at age 7)--- so I'm a little worried about how our night will go--- he was reading a "prank" book at the library last night... so I've got my full-alert mom eyes on right now to make sure I don't find my toilet wrapped in plastic or something!!

So somehow this week-- my dates I had written down for sneak peeks got messed up for All That Scraps-- so I missed the release-- -I don't know why I had it in my head that they would start on Sunday, but I guess I'll just have to do my own sneak peeks (that aren't so sneaky anymore!)

This is the first card using Christine's CCDesigns - TULIP BIRGITTA and Amy R Stamps - ALL ABOUT U stamp sets.  It has me all ready for spring seeing those tulips--- those are my absolute favorite flowers, even though they don't stick around long--- and I love Amy's new sentiment set with all of the interchangeable U and You sentiments.  You can see the other sneak peeks at the ATS BLOG... but act surprised when you come back later this week to see the other cards I made! :)
